
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong meets Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Monday (Jun 23) on his first visit to China as prime minister. Mr Wong said Singapore and China share a “deep level of trust and understanding” and that cannot be taken for granted. Mr Li said that it is important for China, Singapore and other important partners to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in an international landscape facing “increasing uncertainty and instability.”
Mr Wong is also set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday (Jun 24), and both sides will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China.
